As malign actors like China and Russia seek to expand their influence around the world, I believe that American leadership on the world stage is needed now more than ever. To strengthen our national security and foster an environment for economic growth, we must work with like-minded partners to defend our values, deter aggression, and combat economic coercion. ‘Peace through strength’ can only be achieved if we uphold our alliances and maintain the most capable fighting force on the planet. I steadfastly support the men and women who risk their lives to protect our country and strive to ensure they have the modern capabilities they need to address the threats of tomorrow.

I’m honored to serve on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Africa and Global Health Policy and as a member of the Subcommittee on East Asia and the Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere. I also serve as a member of the bicameral Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe, also known as the Helsinki Commission, and the Senate NATO Observer Group. For several years, I have had the solemn duty of sitting on the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum Council, where I support the museum’s work to combat antisemitism and prevent mass atrocities around the world.
