Sen. Tim Scott says school choice the civil rights issue of generation
Sen. Tim Scott is a product of a public school education in South Carolina, and says he's proud of that, but he wants to make sure that public education means quality education.
He tells WYFF News 4 that he believes school choice is "the civil rights issue of this generation."
Education "is the great equalizer, if you're looking for something that helps us get the outcomes that we want without fixing the game, the fastest path forward is education," Scott said.
He said that parents want to be involved in the education of their children.
"For the first time in recorded history, African Americans and Hispanic parents want school choice, so this is an issue whose time has come," Scott said.
