Senator Scott Issues Statement Ahead of Strengthening Storms and Potential Government Shutdown
CHARLESTON, S.C. — U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) today issued the following statement as storms strengthen off the South Carolina coastline and a potential federal government shutdown approaches on October 1:
“With storms intensifying off our coast and the possibility of a government shutdown on the horizon, I want to reassure South Carolinians that my office remains committed to serving you. Even if federal funding lapses, my team will continue to assist constituents and our phone lines will remain open.
“As we closely monitor the developing weather, now is the time to prepare and pray for protection. Please follow all guidance from local emergency officials, make sure you have essential supplies, and know your evacuation route. Your safety is my top priority, and my office stands ready to coordinate with local, state, and federal partners to provide any necessary support.”
During previous federal government shutdowns, agencies such as the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and the U.S. Coast Guard have continued operations.
