Senator Tim Scott releases statement on shooting at South Carolina State University

CHARLESTON, S.C. — U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) released the following statement following the shooting at South Carolina State University:

“My prayers are with the family and loved ones of the young woman who was killed, and for the full recovery of those injured at South Carolina State University.

“Homecoming is meant to be a time of celebration and community. My heart goes out to the entire Bulldog community as they face this tragic news.

“We are grateful to the law enforcement officers who responded swiftly to protect lives and who continue working diligently to bring answers and justice.

“In the face of such senseless violence, I remain committed to helping ensure that campuses are safe and secure learning environments for all.”
