Sen. Scott Statement on President Biden’s State of the Union Address

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) issued the following statement in response to President Biden’s State of the Union address:

“Tonight, the American people heard a stark contrast in our vision for the future of our nation. President Biden resorted to his tried-and-true tactic of glossing over the real issues affecting the American people. He spoke of unity, bipartisanship, and accomplishments but his record shows division, political hackery, and failure. If President Biden was going to say something authentic to the American people, it would’ve been ‘I’m sorry.’ During his tenure, basic living costs and interest rates have gone up for hardworking families, our kids are less safe on our streets, and America has lost its footing on the world stage.

“I refuse to accept Biden’s failure as a permanent decline for America. I believe in a nation where everyone has the opportunity to live out their American Dream; where we work together to ensure only the best wear the badge through more funding and training for law enforcement; where our future is not dependent on the zip code in which we’re born, but instead every child is set up for success through the power of a quality education. We are the greatest nation on earth. We have a long way to go, but with the right leadership, America always pushes ahead.”
