Senator Scott: Affordable Care Act is Even Worse at Five

Washington – Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) issued the following statement today regarding the fifth anniversary of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) becoming law:
“When the Affordable Care Act was signed into law five years ago, we knew then what we know now – it’s a bad law. We all want our fellow Americans to have access to affordable, quality healthcare, but this policy is the wrong path to get to that goal for families, businesses, healthcare providers and the uninsured. The President’s healthcare law was built on a cracked foundation; sadly, it promised the American people so much, but ultimately has given us so very little.
The ACA is even worse at five and has resulted in soaring premiums, lost coverage, billions of dollars wasted and a trail of broken promises to the American people.
I continue to support a complete repeal and replacement of the Affordable Care Act. I will continue to advocate for free market solutions that create a patient-centered healthcare system, not a Washington-centered, one size fits all approach like the ACA has been from day one.”
