Senator Scott votes to extend the Iran Sanctions Act

WASHINGTON, DC -U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) issued the following statement after voting to extend the Iran Sanctions Act. The passage of the act will extend existing sanctions through December 31, 2026.

“Iran’s behavior continues to call into question their willingness to support peace and stability. They have repeatedly threatened our naval vessels, they continue to build up their missile program, and they made a concerted effort to detain and publically embarrass our service members for political gain. Even after the Iran Nuclear Deal, Iran continues to sponsor terrorism throughout the Middle East. These actions, and the continued defiance of international peace efforts, must be checked. We must continue to impose sanctions.”
