Senator Scott Votes to Protect Women’s Health and Keep Government Open

Washington – U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) issued the statement below following today’s Senate vote on a continuing resolution (CR) to fund the government. The CR extended most government funding at current levels through December 11, while redirecting funding for Planned Parenthood to community health centers. In South Carolina, there are more than 160 community health centers providing quality health care for women.

“As a proud pro-life Senator, today’s vote was an easy one for me. By redirecting Planned Parenthood funds to community health centers, this CR both ensures women’s health care is protected and keeps the government open. I am extremely disappointed my Democratic colleagues are unwilling to stand up for life and continue to filibuster every bill brought up that protects life.”

Senate Democrats defeated the bill 47-52.
