Scott Joins Bipartisan, Bicameral Group of Lawmakers in Calling for the Permanent Expansion of Telehealth Coverage
Friday | December 4, 2020WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) joined a bipartisan group of 49 lawmakers in urging Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to make the expanded use of telehealth services during the COVID-19 permanent. Provisions in the CONNECT for Health Act that have allowed Medicare beneficiaries to access the same healthcare in their homes during the pandemic will be expiring once the pandemic has been contained.

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senators Tim Scott (R-S.C.) and Chris Coons (D-Del.) and Representatives Jason Crow (D-Colo.) and Troy Balderson (R-Ohio) introduced the Next Generation Entrepreneur Corps Act to spur new business and job creation in underserved communities by starting a competitive fellowship for entrepreneurs. With a five-year investment of $368 million, the bill will identify talented entrepreneurs through a national competition and directly support the creation of more than 320 new businesses each year.

New Report Emphasizes Importance of Scott’s IMPACT Act as Opportunity Zones Continue Aiding Distressed Communities
Monday | November 9, 2020Charleston, SC – A new report on Opportunity Zones released by the United States Government Accountability Office (GAO) today emphasizes the need for Senator Tim Scott’s (R-SC) IMPACT Act, which would reinstate and expand reporting requirements to determine the impact of the more than 8,700 Opportunity Zones across the country. When Opportunity Zones were passed as part of the 2017 tax reform package, Senate Democrats utilized procedural rules to strip the reporting requirements initially included with Opportunity Zones from the bill. Senator Scott has been a consistent advocate for reinstating these reporting requirements since then.

Thursday | September 17, 2020WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) cosponsored legislation to honor and commemorate the historic sites that contributed to the 1954 landmark Supreme Court decision, Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka. Introduced by Chris Coons (D-Del.) and House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.), this legislation is to expand the Brown v. Board of Education National Historic Site to include historic sites in South Carolina and designate National Park Service (NPS) Affiliated Areas in other states. It would recognize the importance of the additional sites that catalyzed litigation in Delaware, South Carolina, Kansas, Virginia, and Washington, DC, and expand the Brown v. Board of Education National Historic Site in Topeka, Kansas. The legislation was crafted in partnership with the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
