Scott Statement on Passage of COVID Relief, Year End Funding, and Tax Extender Packages

Washington – U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) released the statement below tonight following Senate passage of three bills providing COVID-19 relief, government funding, and tax extenders. More than a dozen Scott-led provisions are headed to become law, click here for more information.

“The passage of critical COVID-19 relief, government funding and tax extenders is a huge boost for the American people,” Scott said. “These bills mean the COVID-19 vaccine will be available at no charge to anyone who wants it, expanded unemployment and extended rental assistance will be available to American families, and more support is available for our small businesses – in addition to giving our troops a pay raise and other issues critical to our nation.”

Scott continued, “I am thrilled to have secured more than a dozen provisions helping South Carolina families and small businesses in these bills. Whether it’s improving educational access for students during the pandemic, providing more resources for small businesses to stay open and their workers to stay employed, increasing broadband access to aid with telehealth, or a number of other solutions, this is a great step forward. I will continue working to ensure access to opportunity for all through the pandemic and into the future.”
