Senator Scott Statement on CR

Washington – U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) released the following statement after today’s Senate vote on a package to aid in defeating ISIS and fund the government through December.

“I believe we need strategic, long-term thinking to tackle our nation’s debt and spending addiction. Thus, I consistently oppose solutions that do not provide us with that framework.

However, with the very real threat posed by ISIS, it is clear that voting yes today to aid in our efforts to defeat this barbaric group is the right path. Given the tools he requested, the President must now decisively and aggressively engage and defeat ISIS. Any further delays in this process will simply allow ISIS to grow stronger and establish deeper footholds across Iraq and Syria.”
