WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senators Tim Scott (R-SC) and Chris Murphy (D-CT) introduced the Food Allergy Safety, Treatment, Education, and Research (FASTER) Act to help address the growing challenges posed by food allergies, which affect tens of millions of Americans. The bill modernizes our nation’s labeling laws by codifying sesame as a major food allergen and calls for a comprehensive report on food allergies in the United States that will assist future governmental and private-sector efforts to monitor, study, and combat these allergies. Approximately 1.5 million Americans are allergic to sesame.

WASHINGTON – Ahead of International Women’s Day on March 8, U.S. Senators Tim Scott (R-SC), Susan Collins (R-ME), Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), and Ben Cardin (D-MD) introduced bipartisan legislation, the Interagency Committee on Women’s Business Enterprise Act of 2020, to reauthorize a federal interagency committee that helps coordinate federal resources to encourage the formation, growth and success of women-owned businesses. There are currently an estimated 13 million women-owned businesses operating in the United States, employing 9.4 million workers and generating revenue of $1.9 trillion. This bill would build on this growth by reviving the Interagency Committee for Women’s Business Enterprise (ICWBE).
